The Double Cluster

Image Details:

This is a pair of Open Clusters (a grouping of non-gravitationally bound stars) in Perseus about 7,500 light years away. These clusters, designated NGC 884 and 869, are relatively young and are only about 12 million years old (indicated in part by their predominant blue-white color). They are also located close to the Heart & Soul nebulae and are often photographed together at wider focal lengths.
